Split-Site PhD – Getting the Most Out of Research-Based Teaching

The UK is one of the forerunners to the innovative split-site PhD offered to anyone pursuing advanced studies from anywhere in the world. A split-site option allows a person to graduate from a UK host university while working on their thesis in their own country. Of course, this method requires constant collaboration between the UK host university and the accredited partner university from around the world.

Like other educational institutions, universities that offer split-site PhD students require students to graduate from accredited institutions in the UK or from other accredited universities in different countries. Others accept students who have completed a bachelor’s degree with honors or even recognized academic professional merit, but all of these minimum requirements depend on whether the university offers multi-campus PhD courses.

Unlike a standard online PhD degree, where a student submits requirements over the internet, a split-site option would require them to stay on the host university’s premises and the schedule depends on that stated in their program required number of hours. The student will work independently on their research while away from the UK host university.

While the requirements of obtaining a split-site PhD are more strenuous than a standard degree, students can rest assured that they are receiving the high quality tuition offered by the UK host university in collaboration with the accredited home university of their choice.
